Une nouvelle version de ce frontend pour MAME a été publiée. Voici la liste des changements:
This release has been quite a while in the making and its not all good news. The Windows version works just fine. Linux on the other hand is a problem. Packaging the application with the necessary drivers to work across all distributions is near impossible. That coupled with the poor options for packaging wxPython apps for Linux doesn’t help either. And still further is the lack of any serious work happening to release an updated version of the WxPython graphical toolset – its been almost a year since the last release and Linux support due to the move to Wayland is a real problem. So, for this release I will drop a packaged version for Linux but your mileage may vary.

On to the changes for this release:
- Fixed checkallroms that was somehow broken
- Some improvements to the auto-restart – not 100% yet but I’m learning. Hope to nail it for the next release.
- Some improvements to showing the video player in Linux under Wayland. VLC backend still isn’t supported due to no ongoing WxPython works in this area that I can see (Until the next release maybe?). The wx.mediactrl is supported as long as you use the right gstreamer library (you have to use an unsupported library as they patched support for the wrong library – go figure).
- Fixed the search control – was quite buggy
- On startup in Linux it will check for Wayland and warn you if its present due to the buggy support
- Ongoing works to improve the list control. I’m using UltimateListControl that is great but nobody seems to be supporting anymore and its full of bugs. So I’m manually patching it and distributing the patched copy for now.
- Fixed some tooltips issues
- Ongoing work in the ‘non-mame’ emulators window. Have added a defaults option that uses an xml file to set default values for some common emulators. It’s a very limited list as only the ones I personally play with are included. Feel free to send me others to add.
- Added a preference setting to disable all artwork. This used to be an option under Mame but they removed it a while ago so I have done it myself.

- Fixed a bug that was preventing the Check All Roms module from running. I hadn’t updated its code to follow the new logging structure.
- Added a refresh after showing the busywindow when calling mame to get the -listxml as under Linux the busywindow would not always show.
- Fixed an issue under Linux where the auto-restart (if it works) would throw an error relating to an unrecognized command line variable. This was due to the change I introduced previously on how the CLI is managed.
- Improved the showing of the media player in the main screen under Linux (if you’re using X.Org, not Wayland as that’s broken still).
- The manual has been updated with more modern instructions for installing wxPython under Linux (Only tested on Ubuntu and it will differ for non-Debian OS’s.
- In TileView I have noved the keypress and mouse click binding from the tiles to the mainframe. This better manages problems where the tiles may loose focus and not respond.
- The inactivity timer was not being reset during searching. This means that if you were just searching for a long time without then clicking on anything, the fullscreen video player could kick in automatically.
- Fixed a bug that was causing the search function to not pick up on the first character until the 2nd character was being entered. Had to switch to using the wx.searchctrl which just handles things a lot better.
- Fixed a bug where when searching, each character entry would cause the ROM list to be repopulated twice.
- Greatly reduced the number of times the ROM list gets updated on startup.
- Finally fixed the annoying linter issue in functions.py. It wasn’t happy about not seeing the _ declaration for the language settings.
- Did a better job of passing back variables from the joystick setup function
- Added a feature in the setup.py file for Linux builds where it will automatically search for and copy some dependency Linux Libraries that are not always present on Linux builds (e.g. libsdl and libtiff).
- Tidied up the setup file a bit
- Simplified some unnecessary code in the alternateemulators.py file
- Moved the UltimateHeaderRenderer code to functions.py as it was used across three different modules
- Patched ultimatelistctrl to allow the currently selected row foreground color to be adjusted. This is not possible by default and causes for some horrible contrast issues.
- Added the color control to pfeMAME preferences window to allow the selected row color to be changed.
- Fixed tooltips not being displayed for rows in the ROMs list that have text too long to be displayed in the cell. Now when you hover over the cell a tooltip will pop up showing the full text. Needed to add an event.skip() to the mouse motion event as this was blocking the propagation of this event for the ultimatelistctrl hover detection.
- Added error / info logging to the fullscreen video player
- Created a non_mame_defaults xml file and added functionality in the alternate emulators window to select defaults which helps with making the right detault settings for various emulators. The XML file can be added to over time based on others that I test or feedback from other users.
- Fixed a problem that was causing a crash in Linux with the fullscreenvideo player with Wayland when using the wx.mediactrl. The Gstreamer buffer / stream (whatever it is) wasn’t getting flushed after each video and everything would fall apart. I think this is an issue with wx.mediactrl. For now I am destroying the control and re-creating it each time a new video plays.
- Implemented the same as above in pfeMAME.py
- Implemented the same as above in tileview.py
- Added a ‘Check for Wayland’ checkbox to the preferences window. On startup under linux this will be checked. You can optionally disable this after the first time at the prompt, or from the preferences window.
- Added a new preferences option to ‘Disable artwork for all ROMs’. Does pretty much as it says.
- Fixed a bug that would stop the ROMs list from regaining focus when switching to a different tab and then back again.
- Added a check when opening the ‘CheckAll’ window that the File Path for the ROMs folder is valid.
- Updated rungame to log the correct engine being used (was always logging as MAME even if you were not using it)
- Tidied up how the delimiter is shown in the messages window after running a ROM
- Fixed an issue that caused preferences to be written when opening any of the preferences windows when they should only be written if a control is actually changed
- Refactored some of the preferences control update code to tidy it up and make a lot easier to maintain.
- Fixed a bug that stopped manual configuration data in SLOT configs from ever being written to file as it didn’t realise the control had changed.
- Database age was being shown as 0 days if the preference to not check on startup was checked. Changed this so that preference only effects if you are notified of the age. Now the age is always shown as the correct value.
- Added a Unbind in on_close to the on_paint event in TileView to prevent Runtime errors being generated when the on_paint tried to paint to a device that had been destroyed during the closing process. Only happened under some situations but better to prevent it.
- When using the language picker, the currently selected language now has a border drawn around it so you know what is already selected.

Une nouvelle beta pour cet émulateur Amiga a été publiée. La prochaine version stable ne devrait plus tarder. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- Line 0 is also visible at the bottom of screen in OCS Agnus + OCS Denise combination, works like A1000 but without 1 line delayed vblank interrupt. ("Extra" lines are only visible if Overscan+ or higher mode)
- DMA debugger line 0 strobe type is now correct in OCS Agnus and A1000 configurations. (STRHOR if A1000, STRVBL if OCS Agnus, STREQU if ECS Agnus/AGA)
- Implemented Permedia 2 (CVPPC//BVPPC) LineCount register. Fixes OS4 boot screen hang. NOTE: Read Classic_FAQ on OS41FE CD root directory before attempting to use CVPPC/BVPPC with OS4.
- Flush log file before adding log to crash dump file.
- b5 audio fix (in some situations audio DMA slot was allocated in wrong position causing DMA debugger reported conflict)
- -theme command line parameter now also support "default" value: ignore GUI setting and follow Windows setting.

- X and Y buttons now shift the screen down/up by 16 pixels so you can position the score off-screen and use these to pan up/down to see it.

This release primarily improves the Archimedes:
- video emulation is improved, especially with regards to the left crop in titles like James Pond and Robocod, and the cursor being misplaced relative to content in 1bpp and 2bpp modes;
- runtime machine selection helps to resolve speed issues with early titles such as Zarch;
- errors in instruction fetch related to user mode have been fixed; and
- minor improvements have been made to floppy drive emulation.

- New D3D12 video plugin. The shader tool has also been updated and supports generating DXIL.
- New Windows ARM64 builds. Less frequently used platform-dependent functionality may remain unimplemented on this platform.
- Added a Blitter capture feature for developer builds. See the "blitcap" debugger command.
- Various minor cross-platform fixes which came along with the new port/backend work.

Une nouvelle beta pour cet émulateur Amiga a été publiée. Voici la liste des changements:
- Los Justicieros (Zorton Brothers) laserdisc arcade game left holster hooked up correctly. (Was stuck active previously)
- If programmed mode was enabled first and if programmed horizontal blanking got enabled slightly later, it didn't force display position recalculation. This is needed because programmed mode horizontal position also depend on horizontal blanking configuration. Real monitors also use both syncs and blanks to detect display position. (I noticed this in CyberVision PPC config where CVPPC gets activated at boot, then when END+F9 is used to switch back to native mode, display was horizontally shifted and clipped)
- In NTSC mode if bitplane DMA last fetch "overflowed" to cycle 0 (which is harmless and normal in overscanned modes) when line was short, it was incorrectly kept allocated for bitplane DMA also during long lines. Long line has 1 more cycle = no overflow. (NewTek demo reel 3 dynamic hires image corruption in NTSC mode, CPU didn't have enough time to update all colors quickly enough. Note: corruption at the bottom in PAL mode is demo bug. NTSC mode also has 2 slightly corrupted lines at the bottom, this is also normal.)
- Magic mouse mode without enabled mouse driver was broken in b1. Moving mouse outside of emulation window and back caused it to stop moving.

Cet émulateur multi-systèmes a été mis à jour. Les versions MacOS se déclinent désormais en deux versions: "latest" pour OSX 10.13 et supérieur et "compat" pour OSX 10.9 à 10.13. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
Atari 2600
- Improved 6502 CPU emulation; all unofficial opcodes are now implemented
- Improve handling of the HMOVE register
- Refactor of TIA; fixes many emulation issues but still imperfect
- Implement correct 6502 reset timing

Bandai - WonderSwan / WonderSwan Color
- Minor fixes to v30mz CPU emulation
- Emulate 32KB SRAM for '8KB' type cartridges
- Implement Sound Test register bits 1,2 and 3

Nintendo - NES / Famicom
- Improved 6502 CPU emulation; all unofficial opcodes are now supported
- Fix APU frame counter emulation
- Various improvements to APU emulation
- Implement correct 6502 reset timing

Nintendo - Nintendo 64
- Fix an issue where saved data from the current game could be duplicated into the next
- Fix an issue where the Real Time Clock may not function correctly depending on the user's local time zone

Nintendo - Game Boy Advance
- Implement that the last cycle of the prefetcher cannot be interrupted
- Implement correct ROM mirroring for Famicom Mini / Classic NES series
- Improve handling of SRAM/Flash bus
- Fix the timing of initial DMA wait cycles

Sega Mega Drive / CD / 32X
- Lower sync interval between MD and 32X: improves emulation accuracy but does reduce performance

Sony - PlayStation
- Update the blitter to operate on a copy of the framebuffer; fixes potential threading issues

ruby (Audio/Video/Input abstraction layer)
- Added a native Metal backend for macOS with VRR support
- Implemented latency selection in SDL audio driver
- Removed the built-in Blur shader, using the bilinear slang shader is preferred
- Removed non-hardware accelerated video drivers (any platform capable of running ares should at least have OpenGL, D3D or Metal available)
- Reduce CPU usage on the video thread by using a condition variable rather than a spinlock
- Add support for connecting a Mouse on macOS (for emulating SNES mouse, etc)
- Remove tight loops in SDL and OpenAL drivers, reducing CPU usage when using these drivers.

User Interface
- Fix an issue where nested slang shaders were not available in the UI
